Jazz up your October
Visit Dizzy Gillespie's hometown of Cheraw during the South Carolina Jazz Festival Oct. 15-17. More than 20 regional artists from the Carolinas will perform in venues ranging from restaurants and parks to downtown streets. In addition to headliner jazz musicians, the festival offers a "bebop" parade, jazz crawls, a fine arts and crafts exhibition and kids' art activities. A new musical in Newberry
Take a trip back in time Oct. 18-19 when the Newberry Opera House presents 'S Wonderful, a new musical that pays tribute to songwriting team George and Ira Gershwin. Featuring such songs as "Strike Up The Band" and "Summertime," this all-singing, all-dancing revue moves from jazz-age New York through 1950s New Orleans. For more information, click here. |

Celebrate Oktoberfest in Greenville
Celebrate the 200th anniversary of Oktoberfest in festive German fashion with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra Oct. 15-17 at the Peace Center in Greenville.
